BACK COVER:

Who Was Bib?

Bib was my mother. Her name was Billie and all of her grandchildren called her, "Gramma Bittie." Except my son Rhett. When Rhett tried to say Gramma Bittie, it came out, "Bib." She laughed and it stuck.

Bib had red hair, an eighteen-inch waist when she was 18 years old (as she reminded me many times), and a sunshiny personality. She was spunky, pragmatic, lots of fun, and she loved to watch people eat.

Whistling while she worked, she taught me many things like, "Work is good for you." and "Food is your body's fuel." She even went so far as to say, "Oh, those brownies won't make you fat; they're good for you." Then she'd chuckle.

Bib had red hair well into her eighties, often said, "I left my face at your sister's house," and accepted life as it came. I can't remember many things making her sad, except the loss of Rhett. She would be very happy that the proceeds from this cookbook might help children and adults learn to their potential. And she would be happy to watch you eat!
